Here's a neat tip to make your Halloween punch creepy while keeping it cold: Fill a rubber food service glove with water, and freeze it. Remove the glove, rinse the ice hand, and use it to cool your punch!

Cotton candy makes great spider webs! Find candy spiders, and tangle them into the cotton candy. Any color is good, but if you can find green, that's even better.

Give your party an erie look with black lighting, and fluorescent paint.

Visit a cider mill or a pumpkin patch for a refreshing change of pace. Cider mills are great places for dates. Spend some time drinking cider, walking among the orchards, and get some fresh air. Pumpkin patches are fun for kids. Let them pick out their pumpkins for carving. The pumpkins will cost less than they do in the stores.

Movie theaters show double-features and marathons of horror films during the month of October. Keep your eyes open for schedules - Or why not host your own scary movie night? Come up with a good line-up of popular films, make invitations or flayers, and hand them out. And don't forget the popcorn!

Looking for something unique to do this Halloween? Why not attend a murder mystery event, or take a haunted tour of your city. Make plans for these quite early, as these events tend to sell out during the Halloween season.

Key panel recommends impeaching Ill. governor (AP)

AP - A key panel unanimously recommended impeachment for Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Thursday, setting up a vote that could make him the first governor to face such fate in Illinois' sordid political history. Blagojevich should lose his job for abusing power, mismanaging government and committing possible criminal acts, including federal allegations he tried to sell off a U.S. Senate seat, the special committee concluded.

Cheney: CIA did nothing illegal in interrogations (AP)

AP - Vice President Dick Cheney said Thursday that he sees no reason for President George W. Bush to pre-emptively pardon anyone at the CIA involved in harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists. "I don't have any reason to believe that anybody in the agency did anything illegal," he said. In an interview with The Associated Press, Cheney also said that Bush has no need to apologize for not foreseeing the economic crisis.

UN halts Gaza aid after Israel attack on workers (AP)

AP - The U.N. suspended food deliveries to Gaza and the Red Cross accused Israel of blocking medical assistance after forces fired on aid workers, killing two, as the threat of a wider conflict emerged with Lebanon.

Democrats criticize Obama's proposed tax cuts (AP)

AP - President-elect Barack Obama's proposed tax cuts ran into opposition Thursday from senators in his own party who said they wouldn't do much to stimulate the economy or create jobs. Senators from both parties agreed that Congress should do something to stimulate the economy. But Democratic senators emerging from a private meeting of the Senate Finance Committee criticized business and individual tax cuts in Obama's stimulus plan.

Madoff 'victims' do math, realize they profited (AP)

AP - The many Bernard Madoff investors who withdrew money from their accounts over the years are now wrestling with an ethical and legal quandary. What they thought were profits was likely money stolen from other clients in what prosecutors are calling the largest Ponzi scheme in history. Now, they are confronting the possibility they may have to pay some of it back.

AP - In grainy cell-phone videos played over and over on the Internet, police officers force an unarmed black man to the ground and hold him face-down on a crowded train platform. Suddenly one of the officers draws his gun and fatally shoots the man in the back then looks up.
