How to Recycle Computers in Safe and Environment-friendly Ways
My son recently graduated from high school and as a reward, I bought him a new PC from Apple. Then, I remembered that I still have an old personal computer that has now become a dust collector in our storage room. It’s old and I doubt if it will still be of use so I thought I’d recycle computers. However, there are several options that I’m mulling over. Here are some of the options on my how to recycle computers list:
Dump your computers in a garbage bin – this is the most convenient way to put a computer away, and also the most awful thing that everyone could do to recycle computers. Computers are composed of electronic components that are harmful to the environment when you do not recycle computers properly. A computer monitor, especially if it’s an old CRT monitor, can emit harmful gases when the screen breaks. Your local community might not also approve of it so let’s erase the garbage truck or bin option to recycle computers.

Give old, but working computers to charity – this is the most worthwhile means to recycle computers. If your old computers are still in working condition, consider giving them as donation to schools, orphanages, or even to your friends or relatives. You can also ‘swap’ your computers for another item or just give it away. You can find such sites in Craiglist or bargain sites.
Contact the manufacturer – Dell recycles computers from their consumers. Most manufacturers do so if you want to recycle computers, call your computer manufacturer to get more information.
Caution about PII
